IMG_4656This bougainvillea has a different look from my others.  I love its simplicity, color, and the three pistil-like protrusions. I know that literally, these are leaves, not flowers, but somewhere within their makeup they contain what will become flowers!

Version 2I love both the veining and the shadow of the pistils and stamen in this shot. The sun was brighter than usual–perhaps an indication of the ending of the rainy season. it hasn’t rained for days and things are starting to look less lush.  Soon it will be wildflower season in the mountains. More photo opportunities!!

These little beauties just keep on blooming, but unfortunately the leaves don’t fare so well!  love the seed pods, though.

The ramp to my studio is lined with a new crop of hibiscus peeking through the guard railings.

Cee’s Flower of the Day Challenge 8/12/15
Today I just wanted to play with a detail of one rather wilted Thunbergia blossom that I snapped a picture of.  I just wanted to use it in a painterly way to see how far the image could be stretched. I’m rather limited in my editing choices, but it was fun.

IMG_3536I am still trying to remember the name of this flower.  I have a paler variety at home but these beauties are in bloom on the Lake Chapala Society grounds. I love the seed pods as well, so I’m showing one above.  They burst open and spill out the black bee bee seeds, insuring a new generation of plants.
