Pool Party

Okay… It is finally happening, and the gang has collected to supervise. Our newly refurbished pool is finally ready for water and the water we put in has finally decided to stay put.  Hot water is coming in from the street, cooler water from a hose connected to the cistern and more hot water piped in from the hot tub. I’m excited because I haven’t been able to use the pool for over two weeks.  The kids are excited because finally their really big water bowl is going to be full enough for them to reach the water to quaff their thirsts! I keep telling them they have to be patient. I’ve done all the work of turning on pumps and hooking up hoses. Now all there is to do is to watch.

Can you match the photo above with the dialogue below?

“Pacing won’t help boys, but hey, if it relieves the tension, be my guest.”
“I remember when I could walk to the other side!”
“So are you ever going to fill our little dish again too, ma?”
“HEY..MA!  IS IT HERE YET?”
“You keep an eye on that one and I’ll supervise this one.”
“Then we can switch.”
“What I can’t figure out is how is the water getting from this one to that one?”
“Oh the water is wiiiiiiiiidddde, I cannot get o’er.”
” Morrie, are you supervising, having a drink or just admiring your new look?”

Tongues and Tails: Cees Black and White Challenge

I think it is fair to run these by one more time–this time in black and white. You can view much larger photos by clicking on the first photo.

CCY Challenge, May 12, 2016: Landscapes

DSCN1311

I love the detail and the unhurried, sleepy quality of this Mexican scene.  I’m not sure whether the amount of detail removes it from the “Landscape ” category or not.

Color Your World White!!!

Believe it or not, I think all of the images (except for the one of Diego in his cone) were taken on the same day.  Odd that I looked through thousands of images and all my white ones ended up being taken on the same day. White stands out against the colors of Mexico!

More Pacific Blues

Duke and Daisy accompanied us to Tenacatita.  After the rains and high winds we’ve been having, it was too choppy to snorkel, so we all roamed the beach.  I picked up three bags of coral and shells from the beach and totally sliced open one water shoe. But, how could I be blue?  I left that to the ocean.

Fuzzy Wuzzy Brown????

Fuzzy Wuzzy Brown????

I’m sorry, but the color sample for this Crayon color does not look remotely brown to me.  Nonetheless, I’m going to try to match it.

B and W––Cee’s Black and White Challenge

B&W

DSC09079
“B” is for bathtub. “W” is for webbing. The pastels in the background insisted on being left alone!!!

IMG_0068.jpg
                                          “W” is for Waiting!!!

IMG_8999
. . . and more “W“aiting, in this case for the dog who usually lived in the house we rented at the beach for three days.

IMG_9002Every day, these three “B“est friends would come to our front door looking for the dog who was missing from our house. On the last day, they surprised us from coming to the back beach side door. Wish I could have seen them finally reunited!

IMG_8992And finally, “B” is for Big Black Birds.  In this case, grackles.

Scotch Pride

My name is Laird Morrie and I’m the ruler of all you survey.

Version 2

This is my princess.  We’re about the same size.

Version 5

As you can see, my brother Diego is twice my size

IMG_7906

And although it looks like he is killing me in all of these tussling  matches,

IMG_6879img_6072IMG_7922

IMG_7913

In fact, I always come back for more.  More often than not, I am the aggressor.  More often than not, the bigger dog wins.

IMG_7916

Yet still, I remind myself, I am royalty.  And I pounce again!

DSC07911

This is Frida, one of the three ladies of the house.  Here she maintains her distance.

IMG_3937

This is the other non-human lady of the house. Neither of these ladies likes me much, for I like their dinners entirely too much. Sometimes I jump up on the ledge of the wall and reach up to dine on what this lady leaves behind. Sometimes I dine on it before she’s ready to leave it behind, so my mom put a big plant on the ledge.  Now I wait for a rainy day, when my mom puts the cat’s meals in the garage rather than on the wall. Then I can jump up on the lower wall near the gate, jump up to the workbench in the garage, and eat her whole meal before she sees it.  I am Morrie, Laird, jumping dog, dog of major appetites, schemes and feats of great athletic prowess
.

IMG_4064

Sometimes I lie, awaiting the arrival of the third lady of the house.

IMG_3969

When we hear the garage door opening, we spring to attention.

Version 2

We greet her arrival with LOUD and incessant barks of approval.  In this picture, we are not barking, for our mom has never had the  patience or sanity sufficient to snap a picture when we are heralding her arrival with LOUD and incessant barks.

IMG_3940Often Frida gives up and runs away when Mom bellers, “SHUT UP!!!” to try to curb our enthusiasm over her arrival.  Sometimes the neighbors run away, as well! But Diego and I do not give up easily.  When it comes to the potential for supper or dog treats, I’m in it for the long run. For after all, in the end it is staying power and stubborn dedication that win the day–and in the end, it is breeding that counts

IMG_4053

when one is royalty, and stubborn, to boot!!!!

Hugh’s Photo Challenge Week 4: Isolated

Isolated !!!

IMG_3940Mom, we’re bored!  We need something to play with!!! Can you toss us the little green space man?
IMG_3829Okay, Got it.  Thanks, Mom!!!

IMG_3831

Oops!  Looks like we’re sharing!!!

IMG_3832Okay, Morrie, my turn!!! Morrie?  Stop hogging the green man!
IMG_3833Okay. Time for older brother to show you some manners!

Mom: Guys, stop.  It’s getting a little too rough.  Diego, stop!!!

IMG_3848That’s enough you guys.  Morrie, you’re on time out.  “But Mom . . .” (Whines a bit.  Looks longingly at Diego–and freedom beyond the bars.)

IMG_3853Okay, Morrie.  Here’s a toy for you to play with. Your favorite.
IMG_3840You can’t resist tempting Diego with your toy?  If you put it so close to the bars, you know what’s going to happen.  Right?
IMG_3841Morrie, are you trying to taunt Diego or tempt him or both?IMG_3847Diego falls for the bait.

IMG_3853And, as you might have guessed, Morrie snatches it back just as Diego is about to maneuver it through the bar.  Bad, Morrie, teasing your brother.  Now you’ve earned your isolation!!!! (But what does he care?  He has “the” toy–all the more precious since his brother wants it, too!)
