Greens: Flower of the Day
I love the fragility of these green palm blossoms. Soon they will fall like rain.
Some leaves, such as these on jade plants and other succulents, imitate flowers.

More Orange Bougainvilleas
Okay, more orange bougainvilleaS, but this time with the real flowers : (Click on photos to enlarge.)
Each of those little coral pistil-looking rods is actually a flower bud getting ready to open. Since my last bougainvilleas post, most of them have opened, giving the bougainvillieas a fluffier look! I like both stages–sparse and frilly! In Mexico, they are bugambilias and they have many namesakes: housing developments, shopping centers, movie theaters.

Jade Plant
This was my friend Chuy’s plant and every time I look at it, I think of him. He used to take my friend Betty and me out into the small villages to see precolumbian artifacts and ruins.
I love the buds as much as the flowers–the shading and the tight little promise of delicate white flowers to come.

They are like presents that open themselves. Every day a new collection of perfect blooms.

Impossible to choose a favorite shot, so I’ll be as profuse as the plant and just include them all!

Still Don’t Know the Name of This Flower!
I am still trying to remember the name of this flower. I have a paler variety at home but these beauties are in bloom on the Lake Chapala Society grounds. I love the seed pods as well, so I’m showing one above. They burst open and spill out the black bee bee seeds, insuring a new generation of plants.

I sprinkled seed from an earlier zinnia plant over this plot of dirt left after I dug up a big cactus to transplant. My plans were to put a fish pond here, but I can’t bear to dig up the zinnias which have been blooming almost constantly since. You’ve seen them at other stages, but this is what they look like now. They are loving the rainy season!
I love the detail of the shadow in this closeup.
