The prompt this week is pets.
Whether at home with brother Diego or meeting new friends at the beach, Morrie is definitely a water dog. Once mom put the steps in the pool, it made it even easier to exit. He liked all the new scents at the beach—from babies to bottoms. Oh, Morrie.
As usual, waiting for mom to feed us, to throw the ball, to finish her blog, to give us pats.

Every time I see these photos in thumbnail view in my photo file, I think, “Now whose dog is that?” Then I enlarge them and realize they are two views of one of Jan Golik’s fabulous junk art dog portraits. I believe this one is of her own dogs and it looks exactly like him. Amazing.

This is my answer to Cee’s “View from the Side” Challenge.
The bark of this giant tree that had fallen across the road and been cut in two, then left with the chunk covering the road removed, became a host for other plants and fungi to thrive on.

Life and Death at the Beach
With babies, every day is an education. This little story was acted out when we went to Tenacatita beach for the day. Down the beach, a tragedy was being enacted as a group worked to resuscitate a drowned man. Seconds after I viewed this touching scene as two mothers deal with the interaction between their babies, we realized what was happening in the background and we went down to see if we could be of aid. The oxygen I’d gone back to the house to get at the last minute before we left for the beach was of no aid to them, however, as though they worked diligently on the man and got his heart beating again, they never were able to get him to breathe on his own. One tragedy, one story of new life. This cycle is never more obvious than on the beach, but never before so graphically as depicted on this day. Personally, I prefer last year’s model. This year’s looks too grown up. But it will be good for the beach. He looks like a square-jawed rabbit, doesn’t he?
