Kangaroo Coup

Kangaroo Coup

I scored a knockout in Kentucky against a kangaroo.
Before he aimed his kick at me, I simply staged a coup.
I could have killed with kindness, but  I chose not to do it
because I knew that if I did, I’d very likely rue it.

Human History

Human History

Our thirst for sharing stories is natural as breath.
It comes to us with our first words and only leaves with death.
That space that holds the stars apart is present in our hearts
and that is where our need to share our stories really starts.
Those common roots that bind us, those roads our footsteps share
compel us to reveal what otherwise we would not dare.
Those tales we feign divide us. True ones create a chain
where we are linked together in victory and pain
as we tell our stories that run together to
reveal the whole history of the human zoo.

Prompt words today are: thirst roots feign roads chain share stories run breath stars apart first for Wordle 556, The Sunday Whirl

Dogs and Cats

My dogs are fun and gnarly and love to leap and play.
Often their wild antics are the climax of my day.
They love to solve dilemmas such as who is passing by
by raising choruses of barks and howls up to the sky.
But when it comes to relaxation, my kitties take the cake.
Their main activity, the patterns that their cattails make.

Prompts today are cattail, climax, dilemma, cake, gnarly .

Zoe: Last on the Card, May 31, 2022

Are you surprised that my last shot of the month was of Zoe? And her favorite toy? She pulls it around herself holding the cord in her mouth, winds it around her and growls at its bouncing after her, swings it high in the air and runs after it. I should take a video. You are all on the edges of your seats, right?

Spousal Failure

Spousal Failure

My sister met a minister over Love.Com
who’d found God in the trenches while in Vietnam.
And though he had a talent at saving a lost soul,
in fact he was so holy that she slipped out through a hole.

It seems she had an allergy to men who sought to change her.
She thought she’d find another with no need to rearrange her.
And since the fees for Love.Com were close to a King’s ransom,
she set out on her own to find a man over the transom.

She sought him on the subway, at work and in the park.
She sought him in the glare of day and sought him in the dark.
When any man came nigh, she looked him over head-to-toe,
consumed with locating a man wherever she might go.

But an illuminated person, I fear that she is not.
So working on her own, she never found the love she sought.
And since the great love of her life went sadly undetected,
She should have settled on that minister that she rejected.

Rejected ending:

And so, I hate to say, she spent her whole life as a spinster.
All in all, perhaps she should have settled on the minster!

Word prompts are ransom, nigh, consume, minister, illuminated.and allergy
